Talented rock guitarist Beth Collins has been barely holding herself together for months, ever since her boyfriend and bandmate became the latest victim in a string of suspicious disappearances. When her brother is injured an accident and she sees something dark billowing around him as he hovers close to death, she’s convinced her sanity is collapsing for good.  Then she's accepted by a boarding school for the musically gifted. All of her new friends are bursting with talent, but they're also keeping secrets. Can she trust Vincent, who's so sweet that his very touch makes her fears melt away? Or Xavier, who's trying to tell her something but is hiding even more? And will anyone be safe when her true Talent comes out?

Oh, My, Heart!

My heart still aches after finishing this book, so much emotion went into this book. Love, grief, excitement, turmoil, heart-wrenching decision, betrayal....all of it.

Immediately as you're introduced to Beth grief surrounds her like a black cloud, dealing with the loss of her band mate and boyfriend, you can feel the raw emotion jumping right off the page. One thing that I truly enjoyed was how you knew the back story behind this situation, but the details didn't drag out. This pace was common through the entire first half of the book, it was quick & kept you on your toes without missing a single beat.

I did worry about the similarities between Until Beth and some of the other books I've read where the main character ends up at some "special school" in the middle of no-where.....shockingly that's where the similarities ended, though Beth does deal with a lot of mystery, she's smart enough to see a lot that's going on around her. Vincent for example, he initially creeped me out, as the story went on I saw his purpose to Beth as a whole. He played an essential role right next to Xavier, because you could not have completed the plot without them.

The end....it was quiet the emotional roller coaster for me. I've probably written and deleted the wrap-up on this review 10-15 times.
Should I be super detailed?
Should I leave everyone with a cliff hanger?
Should I even say anything at all?
Well, Beth is an amazing fictional character, the sacrifice she's willing to make for those she loves grabs ahold of my heart. Her drive to avenge those who've wronged her is even greater than a lot of people I actually know. So ending this book was bittersweet, simply because I didn't want the connection the author had built for me to end with this character. Trust when I say that Ms. Amowitz will be surprising us again soon with her fierce literary skills.
