Since the age of ten, Mia has lived under the iron fist of the fundamentalist preacher who lured her mother away to join his fanatical family of followers. In Edenton, a supposed “Garden of Eden” deep in the South American jungle, everyone follows the Reverend’s strict but arbitrary rules—even the mandate of whom they can marry. Now sixteen, Mia dreams of slipping away from the armed guards who keep the faithful in, and the curious out. When the rebellious and sexy Gabriel, a new boy, arrives with his family, Mia sees a chance to escape.

But the scandalous secrets the two discover beyond the compound’s façade are more shocking than anything they ever imagined. While Gabriel has his own terrible secrets, he and Mia bond together, more than friends and freedom fighters. But is there time to think of each other as they race to stop the Reverend’s paranoid plan to free his flock from the corrupt world? Can two teenagers crush a criminal mastermind? And who will die in the fight to save the ones they love from a madman who’s only concerned about his own secrets?

Surprising....

Honestly going into Escape From Eden I was expecting the point of view of a brain washed minion with cult-like attributes, who was forcefully trying to be turned to the other side. Well from page 1 I was shocked, thrilled and at the edge of my seat!

Following Mia's journey in this book wasn't the easiest. Her feelings were all over the map, but I probably would have been bored, and a little worried, if they weren't. Honestly how would you feel if the "home" you've known for 6 years was something you didn't think that it was? I personally would run like hell!
And that's exactly what Gabriel wants her to do.

Suddenly stuck with each other, Mia is questioning everything around her, even Gabriel who has always been honest with her....sort of....
Mia knows secrets about Gabriel, so she wants to trust him, but with a threat always at their back she doesn't know if her feelings for Gabriel are clouding her better judgement.

Without rambling on and on, I will say that Escape From Eden isn't something I would have plucked off a shelf, but I'm ecstatic it landed in my hands. You will never find yourself predicting the plot, knowing who is around what corner, or figuring out who is on Mia's side....until the end that is....

I would absolutely recommend this book to you thrill lovers, creepy mystery buffs, or suspense seekers!

3.5/5
