it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

Why?! Why?! Why?!
Why do I feel like such a traitor??
Damn that Warner, he is swoon worthy EVIL.

I do not want to feel anything for that cold, calculating creature. But this thing called a heart has found a strange little corner to put him into. Honestly, I don't even want to look into that corner....but Warner keeps taunting me with those sweet lines to Juliette!

Once again, Tahereh has Blown.My.Mind.
Genius does not even begin to scratch the surface of what she is able to on paper. There is just something about the way she is able to crawl up into your mind, illustrate this story and make it seem like you're not even holding a book in your hands.

Coming off of book one I thought for once Juliette might find her place, make a peace with herself and a path would start to form for her. (Honestly, I should have known better) So, yeah, take the opposite of all these things and that's the plot for book #2, buttttttttt it was a on hell of a plot! Truly I couldn't have asked for better twists & turns. Not only with the Adam/Juliette story, but as you can tell from my first rant, the Warner/Juliette story kept me on my toes.
There wasn't a single time I felt bored, tired or even remotely sick of these characters, I was even having a good time reading about Castle! So in the end, all of the emotional chaos that was running rabid through Juliette was truly evened out with hostages, blood, guns, War and adrenaline!

To keep this from going on for days I will just sum it up with a perfect! Pick it up, enjoy it, thank me later payments of coffee & pretty books!

Quick Review: The Emerald Talisman (Talisman #1)

Author: Brenda Pandos
Website
Release Date: 3/24/2010
Purchase Info: Amazon (still currently FREE) - B&N

To be normal, sixteen-year-old Julia Parker would shed her empathic gift in a second. Life has been difficult since her mother's mysterious disappearance ten years earlier - an event she witnessed, but can't remember. Julia's situation becomes more complicated after a near death experience from a blood thirsty stalker. As high school students go missing it is clear there is a connection to her own experience--past and present. Someone has to stop the madness and a chance encounter with a creepy psychic foretells that only Julia is the key to stopping the madness, but it may require the life of the one she loves.

When I saw this pop up as free on Amazon I had to grab it! I was able to easily fall into this book simply because it wasn't that complicated...does that sound bad?

It did grab me, but not the way other books have lately, it was more because I was trying to figure out what these "mystery creatures" were and didn't realize until the author literally spelled it out that this book was about vampires...DUH?!

Why else would someone be attached by an "animal" and not have scratches on them?? Honestly I was hoping for something else, maybe Fae, maybe a Unicorn from Hell....I don't know...something that was slightly different.

One thing that did draw me in was Julia's unique ability to sense moods/emotions, pretty cool, but very familiar (if ya know what I mean), but still it didn't become an overbearing part of her as a whole which is why I was able to stick with the story to the end. Though I will say that our dashing hero Nick didn't appear enough in the first part of the book for my liking, so I think that his lack of presence made it hard for me to fall completely in love with him.

Overall Julia & Nick's connect will make the rest of this series interesting...not to mention the HUGE secret Julia is keeping will probably keep this series worth reading!
